SETTLING INTO SOUTHAMPTON

I arrived at the Novotel at 5.30pm to a very nice welcome from Angela on the desk who signed me in and gave me a first floor room next to the lift. The car was parked just outside the door. Once in my room I contacted John to see what was happening.

Unfortunately Millvina Dean was not well enough to attend her lecture so I invited our little group to come to the Novotel for an evening meal. I had discovered that it was a a carvery which offered two courses of eat-as-much-as-you-like for £10 !

It was good to see the taxi roll up and John, Maria, Lucy, Bob and Ann tumbled out.

It was £10 well spent and this helped us to plan our weekend. Some of our party had been to afternoon tea the Dock Gate 4 Restaurant, formerly the South Western Hotel and met up with other Titanic Commemorators.

Most of our party had only arrived at lunchtime so were still finding their feet as it were. It was quite late when they left and I went to a very comfortable bed................
