REPORT: "The Mayor of Eastleigh Councillor Mrs Pamela Holden-Brown and the Mayor of Southampton Councillor Mrs Elizabeth Mizon attended the White Star commemorative service in memory of Philip Curry who had served as the Southampton Manager based at Canute House. Mr Curry was in post when the Titanic sank in April 1912. The service held at St Nicholas Church, North Stoneham was followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the grave, the White Star flag from the Majestic covered the grave which volunteers had tidied up for the ceremony.

After the Service we went by car to the Banister House Hotel, site of the Marconi Offices, for tea and biscuits.

“The Titanic Newsreels: Fact or Fiction”
Venue: The Lecture Theatre, Southampton City Art Gallery, Civic Centre, Southampton SO14 7LP
David Lee, from the Wessex Film and Sound Archive, examined the newsreel film released after the Titanic disaster in 1912 to see which was a true record and which was faked. The presentation was followed by a Q&A session.

We returned to the hotel and over a nightcap and coffee, remembered two absent friends, Millvina Dean and Sid Sedunary who passed on last year
